Celebrating Recognizing the Dedication and Passion of an Outstanding Volunteer during Hispanic Heritage Month

Alex Mata is employed by ExxonMobil (Houston Campus) and a member of ExxonMobil Global Organization for the Advancement of Latinos. He has been a dedicated and enthusiastic JA volunteer for 3 years. He’s proactive in recruiting volunteers to serve as role models to several bilingual classes within Conroe ISD. Alex uses the opportunities presented by JA to bring fellow Hispanic colleagues together to support the Hispanic student community. He feels these opportunities allow students to learn about the business world while interacting with people that look like them and talk like them. It’s definitely a “Win-win, thank you JA!” said Alex.

Having the ability to contribute to the formation of Hispanic students has always been a motivation for Alex. Working with JA Program Managers, he has been able to participate in JA programs deployed at schools of high Hispanic population. This has allowed him first hand to witness the effort that both teachers and students put into the fully bilingual curriculum that celebrates diversity and positions students well for the future.

Alex stated, that he is defined by his Hispanic culture every day and Hispanic Heritage Month is a special time of the year that he celebrates with his fellow citizens. “It’s important that we work towards bringing us all together and contribute to the realization of our national motto” “out of many, one”.

Junior Achievement is honored to spotlight Alex Mata during Hispanic Heritage Month.
