Charter School is "Sold" on JA

Staff at Hallmark Charter School, located in Sanger, Calif., recently met with Junior Achievement staff to see if JA would be a good fit for their school. Hallmark has a blend of homeschool and classroom instruction and its students come from nine different counties. Cathy Davis, program coordinator for Junior Achievement of Northern California, shared the details of her meeting with Alfred Sanchez, the director of Hallmark Charter School.

Hallmark alumni have continued their education at the University of Southern California, Stanford, and Berkeley, just to name a few. The students have a 100 percent exit exam passing rate. An astounding 96 percent of Hallmark students go on to college and the students score higher than average in all proficiencies.

After hearing about Junior Achievement's programs, Alfred immediately ordered 10 program kits for the 2013-2014 school year. The students' parents will be the JA volunteers, but the programs will take place in traditional classroom settings.

The students will benefit tremendously from this distinct partnership. Alfred plans to capitalize on his connections to some of the largest business owners in Fresno County to set up JA Job ShadowTM partnerships.

"The connection with Hallmark and Mr. Sanchez is going to be a strong, long-lasting relationship for the Central Valley office," Cathy said.
