Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas is extremely proud of our student founded and operated business EVO (Elkins Very Own) from Elkins High School in Fort Bend ISD for being named as one of the Finalists in the 2020 National Student Leadership Summit! This prestigious competition recognizes the brightest teen entrepreneurs in the Nation and JA USA hosts 15 of the best student-run companies in the country so that they can compete for a slew of awards and prizes.
EVO has been a long-standing participant of the JA Company Program and this year they challenged plastic consumption and encouraged environmentally healthy habits through sustainable practices. EVO's primary product is "ThreeEVO" - three custom-cut bamboo straws and a bristle brush cleaner enclosed in a biodegradable wheat case. They also sold complimentary products, like cleaning solution, and EVO t-shirts to enhance their 'lifestyle brand' identity focused on sustainability, making sizable profits. You can purchase their products through their website: https://elkinsveryown.com/
Congratulations to team EVO, our educational sponsor Cynthia Bonus (Elkins High School) and our volunteers Mitch Kuy (Microsoft/JA Company Program alumnus), Peggie Wan, Julia Volmer and Robert Mooney (Rice University/Jones Graduate School of Business)!
