JA Company Program startup, Student Power, performed exceedingly well in one of our last competitions for the 2020/21 school year, the Ideas Challenge hosted by Texas A&M University. Competing with other Texas student startups, they were one of thirty finalists selected to pitch live, and succeeded in becoming one of the top ten companies in the grand finale, winning $750 seed money. Student Power’s CEO and Co-Founder, Juan Rodriguez Nunez is a senior at The Village School (Houston) and has led his company admirably this year, placing in the finals of many JA and non-JA business competitions. This year, the JA Company Program was also proud to be a part of the 2nd Annual Houston Tech Rodeo hosted by Houston Exponential. Student Power and Juan were featured in the Tech Rodeo TV lineup and were also part of the international track of the Rodeo, BORN GLOBAL – INNOVATION SHOWCASE, on May 20, 2021, hosted by Z Lab. Tania Daniel, our Senior Director of Entrepreneurship Initiatives served as an EmpowerHER panelist alongside other female leaders in the tech, innovation and entrepreneurial eco-system. This event was hosted by The Ion. We are honored to be able to collaborate with so many pioneering stakeholders, who continue to positively impact our community in many ways.
